Our Story
Everything began in August 2009 when Father Fabián Belay, who had recently been ordained as a priest, received an invitation to visit the "Sol de Noche" Shelter, intended for homeless people. He visited the next day, coinciding with the last day of the year, as the shelter only operated during the colder months (from April to September). For this reason, those who attended the shelter asked him for help because they had nowhere to spend the night. At that moment, Father Fabián realized that those vulnerable people needed support and care.
Simultaneously, around that time, a group of volunteers from the "Corazón de María" Parish was gathering to serve breakfast and lunch to homeless people, many of whom were sleeping at "Sol de Noche." While talking with them, Pinina and Candela, two volunteer women, learned about Father Fabián's visit and asked to meet him. In conversation with him, they proposed finding a place to accommodate homeless people year-round and scheduled a follow-up meeting in the coming days. This is how the story of this beautiful endeavor begins.
In response to this call, a group of volunteers called "Callejeros de la Fe" was formed, which began going out every Wednesday to meet homeless people, attempting to create a bond through listening, support, and conversation. They conducted night rounds, offering a plate of food, clothing, and warmth, while bringing a message of faith and hope.
As time went by, the need to address the addiction problems faced by many of the homeless people became apparent. Thus, they began to dream of a "home" that would provide therapeutic care and comprehensive human support aimed at "healing the person." With this goal, the "Padre Misericordioso Home" was born, evoking the parable of the prodigal son who can always return to the loving arms of the Father.
Shortly thereafter, a fundraising tea event was organized at "El Huerto" School to raise funds through raffles and donations. Additionally, some "partners" joined in, the first work teams were formed, and the Board of Directors was established.

Finally, on 30th December 2010, legal status was obtained, and on 13th May 2011, the residential facility in Barrio Cristalería, Rosario, better known as "El Hogar," opened its doors.
Today, after several years of intense work, we have various prevention centers, therapeutic care centers, and reintegration centers thanks to men and women of goodwill who decide not to pass by indifferently, and become part of this large family.
